冬柳

既然所有的湖泊及溪流都結了冰

眼睛炯炯發亮的鳥呀兔呀松鼠呀還有

生蹦活跳的孩子們

不是南飛就是冬眠或躲在家裡

沒有這些鏡子

這株飽經風霜的楊柳

不知該如何

也找不出任何理由

去裝扮自己

但它知道

自己美麗的映像與倒影

已被深深收藏

在冰凍的水底

以及年輕詩人的心湖中

隨時會激發

生機勃勃

萬綠千紅的

春天的詩

A WINTER WILLOW

   -- In memory of poet Yu Kuang-chung

now that all ponds and lakes and rivers have frozen

and the bright-eyed birds, rabbits, squirrels, and children 

have flown south, are in hibernation, or staying indoor

without these mirrors

the willow that has experienced years of wind and frost

sees no way 

and no point  

to dress up

but he knows his beautiful reflections

are stored safely at the bottom of the frozen water

and the heart lakes of young poets 

ready to sprout 

a riot of color

into dazzling poems

of spring
